Netsafety Week 2026

• 3 min read

Netsafety Week 2026 is coming up from 17 - 23 August, and we're reaching out to organisations across Aotearoa New Zealand to help spread the word and reach communities with the resources and insights they need.

Every day, New Zealanders from young kids to kaumātua are navigating a digital world that's moving faster than most of us can keep up with. AI, scams, online abuse, concerns for our rangatahi and the pressures of social media are affecting real people in our communities. This year's theme, Online safety is a team sport  - play your part, is a reminder that keeping each other safe online takes all of us, working together.

This year's week brings together an outstanding line-up of speakers for our free public webinar series, covering a range of critical issues facing us in the digital world today. We'll be hearing from global tech platform representatives and subject matter experts, researchers, online safety specialists, and lived-experience panellists, offering insight, practical advice, healthy caution, and genuine hope for navigating online life safely, including sessions on:

  • Scams targeting New Zealanders - and how to beat them
  • AI and online safety - opportunities, risks and what to watch for raising safe and resilient kids online
  • Ending online abuse and enabling women's participation and leadership
  • Understanding the manosphere and digital subcultures shaping young people
  • Safer spaces for rainbow communities online
  • Moderating harm and building healthier online communities
  • Rangatahi voices - how young people are shaping our online world

Alongside the webinar series, Netsafety Week will also have a presence in libraries across the country, along with a myriad of free resources and activity ideas available for your organisation and community to access, so there are plenty of ways to get involved beyond the webinars too.

We'd love your help getting the message out, whether that's to your staff, your community, or through your public channels. Your team isn't just navigating digital risk at home, it shows up at work too. And for the public, this series speaks directly to the everyday digital challenges people are facing, with no cost and no jargon, just honest expertise and real stories. A single share, forward, or mention from you could be the reason someone gets the information or support they need before something goes wrong.

To make this easy, we've put together a sharing pack and full webinar details that you're welcome to pass on however suits you best: newsletters, social media, noticeboards, staff briefings, or community networks.

What's in the sharing pack:

  • Ready-to-use social media posts and graphics
  • Key messages and suggested copy for newsletters or bulletins
  • Full webinar programme with registration links

How you can play your part:

  • Share the sharing pack content through your channels
  • Encourage your staff or community to register for the free webinars
  • Visit or promote your local library's Netsafety Week presence
We'd love to have you join the team and help make Netsafety Week 2026 reach as many New Zealanders as possible. You can find the sharing pack attached and all assets and the full programme and resources are also available on the Netsafety Week web hub: https://netsafe.org.nz/netsafety-week-2026

Thank you for your help in reaching the nation!

With gratitude,

The Netsafe Team
