HORIZON digital magazine has been confirmed as the offical media partner for the TheMHS Learning Network Envisioning 2050 in Brisbane conference September 2025. Thank you to all our readers and contributors for making HORIZON our sector's first source of features, news, opeds, think pieces, views and resources on mental health and addiction issues in NZ and AU

What will the world look like in 2050—and how will it shape our mental health?
This critical question sits at the heart of the upcoming TheMHS Conference 2025, which will take place in Brisbane from September 2–5 at the Royal International Convention Centre (RICC).

Hosted by TheMHS Learning Network—a not-for-profit organisation committed to advancing mental health services across Australia and New Zealand—the annual conference will bring together over 1,000 delegates, including clinicians, managers, consumers, carers, researchers, educators, and policymakers. With a bold theme of "Envisioning 2050", the event invites participants to step into the future and tackle the long-term mental health impacts of technological, social, environmental, and systemic change.

“TheMHS is delighted to be holding our annual conference in Brisbane this year. It is a time of major reform in the mental health space,” said Peter Gianfrancesco, Executive Director of TheMHS Learning Network.

Celebrating its 35th year, TheMHS Conference has become a flagship event for innovation, critical dialogue, and cross-sector collaboration in mental health. The 2025 program will feature symposiums, panels, workshops, and livestreamed presentations, along with the prestigious TheMHS Awards ceremony, recognising excellence and leadership in mental health service delivery.

In line with its focus on holistic wellbeing, the conference will also offer unique wellness activities, including ‘The Man Walk’community walk and a ‘Dancing Towards Wellbeing’ session in collaboration with the Queensland Ballet.

“TheMHS is more than a conference; it’s a community of people that has been gathering and influencing for more than 30 years. And we are delighted to have HORIZON on board as our media partner for the TheMHS Conference this year,” Mr Gianfrancesco added.

Whether you're a professional working directly with individuals and communities, a policymaker driving reform, or someone with lived experience contributing to system change, TheMHS Conference 2025 is an unmissable opportunity to be part of the conversation shaping the future of mental health.
